What I do

Hello! I’m Ellen Ault and let me step up on my thread box and say I am a quilter!  I am the current president for the Tampa MQG.  Working in what has been termed modern traditionalism, I create original quilt designs with roots to classic quilt blocks. I play with proportion, color, and layout to reflect upon a theme for each quilt. I love scrap quilts and use as much as color as possible!

I am the Social Media Guru for Happy Apple Quilts, the Florida Quilting Center, and Stitcher Paradise. I create all media graphics, online media, manage the website, class scheduling, and staging for the three entities.  I long arm quilt for others, hopefully for you! I also teach quilting at Happy Apple Quilts.

My work has been published in the UK magazine Love Patchwork and Quilting and in the national magazine STUFFED.  I have had quilts hang in a national shows, such as World Quilt Florida, AQS Spring Paducah, and other AQS Exhibits. I won the Best Longarm Machine Workmanship award for the Florida Competiton at World Quilt Florida, January 2018.  My work has been seen in multiple galleries in the Tampa area. In a previous life I sold my plush toys at conventions in Tampa and Orlando areas, as well as online.

I taught computer animation at The Art Institute of Tampa from 2007 to 2017.  You can download my CV here: Ellen Ault CV  To see my animation work and work of my students, please click on the Animation tab on the left, connected to the About Menu button.
